Projects delivered by Alan Caldwell Associates

Running Great Events

Our reputation continues to grow for running enjoyable and productive events. Ian Marchant, recently retired Chief Exec of Scottish and Southern Energy, praised a session we ran saying, "Alan facilitated what could have been a difficult meeting between two very different groups and created an atmoshere that was both friendly and conducive to good discussion. He encouraged us to reach real conclusions and, as a bonus, made sure we finished on time."

In recent months we have run a national conference, two regional events and numerous workshops and planning sessions for new and returning clients.

We are delighted to be working regularly with the new network of community groups creating a low carbon future across the country, the Scottish Communities Climate Action Network. After helping to plan and facilitate sessions at their first gathering of members in March 2013, Alan has been working with the committee to prepare an action plan for the year ahead.  Alan also helped to organise and run the initial meeting between members of SCCAN and the influential 2020 Climate Group chaired by the Chief Executive of Scottish and Southern Energy, Ian Marchant.  Looking at the possibiilties of collaboration between the business sector and community sector the first meeting was a great success.

In March 2013 we ran a closing workshop for the pilot programme "Are You Ready?" for our client Adaptation Scotland.  This brought together 14 community representatives from local communities with 21 officers from national, regional and local agencies and government. The event examined the lessons from the 10 pilot events across Scotland and looked at the potential of a climate adaptation programme to be rolled out across Scotland. See here to find out more about Adaptation Scotland and the "Are You Ready?" pilot.

The Pathhead Music Collective offered a very different kind of challenge when we were aproached to help them plan for a major funding award they have secured from Creative Scotland. This group of astoundingly talented musiciands have all ended up living in Pathhead just outside Edinburgh. They have secured a £50k grant from Creative Scotland to support a fantastic range of community based music projects over the next year.  The brief was quite simple - to help them to avoid falling out while organising themselves to deliver the year of events. A few hours workshop, a follow up skype and some gentle telephone support seems to have set them on their way.

In April 2013, 90 senior leaders, policy makers and business people from Wales and the West of England came together to explore the potential for energy, jobs and wildlife in a Susyainable Severn.  The event was caputured on film and through a new website that you can view here . Our good friends and associates at Ash Futures led on the event organisation and we provided back up support and recording sessions using interactive mind maps (see here)
