Creating Community Companies

Six very different communities across Scotland have approached us in 2011 to help them create community companies.  Our tailored packages offering support, training, legal formation and fundraising continues to prove a successful formula that has seen us help local people to create over 80 such organisations.

The Linlithgow and Linlithgow Bridge Town Management Group commissioned a scoping report to capture the asset based opportunities across the town and how best the community could organise itself to take advantage of these.  We successfully registered the Oatlands Development Trust in Glasgow to lead the regeneration in their community and drive a major project to refurbish the St Margarets Church as a community centre.  The Perthshire communities of Mount Blair and Bridgend, Gannochy and Kinnoul are also creating development trusts.  Mount Blair are launching their trust with the preparation of a Community Plan and a local history project capturing images, documents and artifacts for a major exhibition.  We have been involved in helping them to secure funds from the Big Lottery and the Heritage Lottery Fund. Bridgend, Gannochy and Kinnoul are looking at a major project with the possible community purchase (or joint venture) of land that may be put on the market at the Murray Royal Hospital site. On Skye, a charitable company Ceann Loch looked to us for help in bringing their Memorandum and Articles of Association up to date for a major fundraising push on a major sporting project.
