Projects delivered by Alan Caldwell Associates

Muirton Park Community Development Trust

Local residents in this inner city area of Perth have established a new development trust to give the community an active role in this large-scale regeneration programme.

Alan Caldwell Associates have been appointed to run an away day for board members and their partners and provide ongoing support to this new Trust. This includes helping to prepare funding applications, prepare a communication strategy and help set up policies and procedures for the board.

Muirton Park Community Development Trust was established as a Company Limited by Guarantee on 23rd July 2008.  We received charitable status on 30th July 2008.

The aims and objectives of the Trust are “the promotion for the public benefit of urban regeneration in areas of social and economic deprivation within the Muirton area of North Perth”.

The Trust is owned and managed by local people supported by partner organisations.  Full membership is drawn from the Muirton area with anyone on the electoral register entitled to become a full member.  Membership is free.

The membership appoints a board of directors to manage the Trust.  The board has a maximum number of directors of 13.  No more than 10 are member directors no more than 5 can be co-opted directors.

The Trust was established to lead the community involvement in the extensive regeneration of the area.  Muirton is a deprived, inner city community with high unemployment and benefit levels.  It also has a community on the up with an on-going, large-scale physical and environmental regeneration programme.  420 new houses are being built and an ambitious green space programme is planned.

Perthshire Housing Association and Perth & Kinross Council who are both active partners in the wider regeneration have supported the Trust in its early development.
